AUSTIN ASLAN FOR FLAGSTAFF CITY COUNCIL.

Please note: this website is optimized for desktop. I apologize for any formatting headaches caused while viewing on mobile.

I’m Austin Aslan—author, EMT, conservation biologist, and a father of two. I’ve served on City Council since 2018, and I’m running again because this moment calls for leadership that is steady, informed, and willing to challenge the status quo when it’s not serving our community.

Over the past several years, I’ve helped guide Flagstaff through wildfire emergencies, a global pandemic, economic uncertainty, and critical infrastructure decisions that will shape our future for decades. I’ve worked to advance our carbon neutrality plan, protect our dark skies, strengthen wildfire resilience, and move forward long-overdue flood control along the Rio de Flag. I also stood with our community in the No on 480 campaign to keep the hospital on the hill, because local voices in major decisions matter.

But just as important as what I’ve done is how I’ve done it.

Too often, government drifts—away from the people it represents, toward convenience, toward complacency. I believe our job is the opposite: to listen closely, act deliberately, and ensure that the voices of everyday residents carry real weight in the decisions that shape this city.

That’s what this campaign is about: Accountability. Clarity. Leadership that actually leads.

Flagstaff deserves a Council that understands its responsibility—not just to manage, but to represent. To ask hard questions. To make thoughtful decisions. To stand up when it matters.

I’m running to continue that work—and to make sure that in Flagstaff, the people are never an afterthought.

I'm proud to call flagstaff home.

I take great pride in my city, the Flagstaff community, and our region. I'm proud of our small-town heritage, our diversity, and our landscapes. Together, we’ve demonstrated an appetite for bold innovations. From our groundbreaking watershed management plan to our desire to raise local wages and safeguard our beautiful open spaces, Flagstaff has a track record of trailblazing leadership. But there’s room for improvement and there will be new challenges to face. I'm a firm believer in solving tomorrow's problems today, and I’m asking for your vote because our next generation of local elected officials need to protect our gains while demanding further progress and better efficiency.

I’m a firm believer in solving tomorrow’s problems today...
